Welcome to Paragon Arrays

BH15 installed at the famous Bislett stadium

At Paragon Arrays we have spent hundreds of hours on simulation and listening and we have developed a new technology for design of horn loudspeakers. It is based on experience from building systems of all sizes, up to and including a horn of length 9 meters (27 feet).

The Advantage of our technology is that it enables horn loudspeakers to be much smaller and lighter without compression sound. Paragon's bass horn with a 15" driver (BH15) weights about 53 kg (117 lbs) and has the same performance as a horn weighing 80-100 kg (170-220 lbs) with conventional technology. This is important for concert providers because it gives:

  • Reduced transportation costs
  • Simplified rigging
  • Reduced load on stages, simpler ceiling mounting and less wear on floors and outdoors stages

The second advantage is that stacking of horns in arrays next to each other or on top of each other is simplified. The problem with many line arrays is that the size of each individual speaker is so large that they must be placed too far away from its neighbor. This may result in partial cancellation of sound in the desired direction. The smaller horns from Paragon enable two-dimensional arrays without destructive interference. The advantages are:

  • Uniform sound pressure in the desired directions when individual speakers are stacked on top of and next to each other.
  • Accurate control over the dispersion of the sound.

The Technology is scalable and therefore also works for smaller horns, i.e. for mids (speech) and highs. Such horns can also be made much smaller without sacrificing performance, and this opens up for new solutions with respect to placement, design, and production cost.
